League leaders Accrington notched an early win, defeating an under strength East Lancs by 8 wickets at Thorneyholme Road. Zahir Afzal picked up a career best 6-15 to bowl out the visitors for just 59. Opener Daryl Redhead made 17, the only East Lancs player in double figures. East Lancs had to rope in scorer Ian Hammond as sub professional when their original replacement cried off in the late morning. Skipper David Ormerod also picked up 4-19 from 16.5 overs. After losing Paul Carroll (13) and Stuart Crabtree (1), professional Roy Silva (21) and Graeme Sneddon (17) saw Accrington to their first home win over the Blackburn side in 12 years by 16.41. Accrington hit the 200 point mark for the first time ever.
