Accrington v Rishton
A fine all round performance by Saeed Anwar took Rishton into a clear lead at the top of the table after an 8 wicket win at Accrington. The Rishton professional hit an unbeaten 66, adding 58 in an unbroken 3rd wicket stand with skipper Andy Bartley to send the home side crashing to a seventh straight defeat in the league. Accrington were bowled out for 113 with Anwar taking 5-31 and Garth Wyse 3-43 on his return from holiday. Scott Greaves picked up the early wicket of Graeme Sneddon caught at slip by Anwar without scoring and then the Rishton paid man removed his opposite number Nishit Shetty for 1, a decision the Indian was clearly unhappy with. Anwar relished bowling to Accrington's top six, five of whom were left handers, winning leg before decisions against Zahir Afzal (16), Toby Bulcock (8) and Stuart Crabtree (0) with deliveries that kept low. Skipper Matt Wilson joined young opener Simon Hanson to build the best stand of the innings, adding 42 for the 6th wicket. Hanson occupied 33 overs in making 26 from 93 balls with two boundaries before edging Garth Wyse to Andy Procter behind the sticks. Wilson was run out next ball after making 29 from 37 balls with six well hit boundaries. Waheed Hussain (16) and Andrew Greenwood (8) offered brief resistance but the innings soon folded for 113. Hanson completed a fine all round display by picking up the wicket of Shaun Wyse in bowling 5 overs for just 9 runs.
