Accrington v Church
Accrington beat Church at Thorneyholme Road for the first time in five years thanks to a fine all round performance from professional Nishit Shetty. The Indian hit a 38 ball 56 to become the first batsman to reach 1,000 runs this season and then he took 6-54 to bowl Accrington to a 33 run victory. Mick Horsfield made a career best 43 on his promotion to open the innings and skipper Matt Wilson added an unbeaten 41 in a 31 run stand for the 7th wicket with young Simon Hanson (11 not out) in Accrington's 193-6 in a 37 over game. Nick Westwell took 4-60 for the visitors. Church began well with professional Ruvin Peiris (59) and skipper Phil Sykes (42) opening up with 83 before David Ormerod (4-65) removed them both. Shetty then got to work with the ball to give Accrington a long awaited victory with only Oliver Rigby (18) and Adam Greenwood (12) making double figures of the other batsmen. |
