Chris Cairns picked up his 50th wicket of the season during his six wicket haul in Bacup's 8 wicket win over Accrington at Lanehead. The New Zealander made it 11 wickets for the weekend, taking 6-35 to dismiss Accrington for 129. Andrew Spencer made the breakthrough by removing Adam Wilson for 7 and then Cairns' slower ball accounted for Graeme Sneddon (9). Accrington professional Nishit Shetty, who re-signed for the 2007 season after the match, was well caught low down at first slip by Tim Farragher off Cairns with Stuart Crabtree (1) and Zahir Afzal (5) soon following as Accrington teetered on 40-5. Skipper Matt Wilson fought back with six boundaries in a run a ball 33, adding 47 for the 6th wicket with Mick Horsfield (25), but when Cairns returned for his second spell, Accrington soon subsided. David Ormerod picked up James Cunliffe (9) and Farragher (21) on his return to his former club, but Matt O'Connor smashed nine boundaries in an unbeaten 43 with Paul Gallagher carrying his bat for 49.
