Accrington beat Walsden by 3 wickets

Surprise of the day was at Walsden where Accrington beat the Wood Cup holders by 3 wickets. A superb 2nd wicket stand of 170 between fit again professional Tama Canning and Zahir Afzal did the damage after the home side had made 215-8. D. Blake (78) and professional Callum Creevey (53) made half centuries for Walsden with Canning taking 3-29 for Accrington. After losing Graeme Sneddon for 9, Canning smashed seven sixes and seven fours in making 94 with his partner Afzal hitting a dozen boundaries in his knock of 75. A collapse ensued when they both departed but Accrington limped home to a first victory of the season.
