Ramsbottom staged a strong comeback as bottom side Accrington looked poised for a shock victory at Acre Bottom. Replying to Accrington's 135 all out, Ramsbottom were in big trouble at 57-5 but a 6th wicket stand of 80 between Simon Read (50 not out) and John Harrison (39 not out) kept the home side in top spot. Accrington were in a good position at 104-2 after good knocks from Mohsin Ahmed (30), Zahir Afzal (29) and professional Tama Canning (27) but home professional Kartik Murali began to weave his spell as the rest of the order offered no resistance. Kartik picked up 6-41 and Read 4-43 in Accrington's innings. Canning removed openers Richard Hevingham (6) and Keith Webb (12) and Kartik (9) as home wickets tumbled but the league leaders fought back to stay in pole position.
