Accrington fell to a 10th successive defeat after East Lancs had decided to call off a run chase at 75-6. Accrington's innings was curtailed at 116-2 with professional Tama Canning unbeaten on 57 with ten boundaries. Mohsin Ahmed made 25 and Zahir Afzal played some glorious strokes in a cameo knock of 14 before becoming Nas Iqbal's 399th league and cup wicket. Rain meant that East Lancs had to chase the full total to win in 19 overs. Canning removed Loots Bosman for 6 and Tariq Hussain had David Pearson caught by Stuart Crabtree for 8 but Paul Turner smashed 39 to put the visitors back in the game. Hussain removed him and skipper Phil Bolton (17) and when Canning removed Mark Lomas (0) and John Turner (1) East Lancs began to shut up shop. Paul Kelly (17) and Nas Iqbal (18 not out) took advantage of some ambitious field placings to win the match for the visitors with two boundaries coming off the final over taking East Lancs to a 3 wicket victory.
