Accrington
(10pts) beat Todmorden (2pts) by 4 wickets |
There
was a nail biter at Centre Vale with Accrington edging out Todmorden
by 4 wickets with just 6 balls to go. Zahir Afzal was Accrington's man
of the moment with an unbeaten 52 after taking 4-95 in a 21 over spell
in Todmorden's innings of 201-8. Simon Newbitt (36) and Stuart Priestley
(30) got Todmorden off to a flier with a 1st wicket stand of 52 after
34 had come up in the first four overs. Good bowling by Afzal and professional
Tama Canning (4-62) pulled it back for Accrington but an unbeaten 68
from home professional Gyan Pandey set the visitors a target of 4 an
over. Adam Wilson (17) and Mohsin Ahmed (27) laid the foundations with
a 40 run opening stand and Canning picked up the rate with a 65 ball
79 to take Accrington within striking distance. There was still plenty
to do with 30 needed off the last 4 overs but Graeme Sneddon hit a sensible
unbeaten 18 to pull off a rare Accrington win at Centre Vale.
