Canning was the star of the show as Accrington got back to winning
ways at Thorneyholme Road by beating Rawtenstall by 6 wickets.
Canning hit a superb unbeaten 101 with ten fours and three sixes after
Adam Wilson had fallen first ball to Andrew Payne. Skipper Mat Wilson
(48 not out) added 120 for the 5th wicket with his professional after
Accrington had looked rocky on 78-4. Canning had earlier taken 4-95
as Rawtenstall were dismissed for 197. This score had looked a long
way off at 106-6 but Andy Clough (45) and Andy Riley (31) made the home
side work hard for their first bowling points of the season. Jimmy Hayhurst
returned to take 2 wickets in the final over to end with 3-60.
