Nelson's title challenge took a knock at Thorneyholme Road with Accrington getting home by 4 wickets with 4 overs to spare. The visitors made 147-7 on a green wicket with Damian Clarke taking 3-40 for Accrington. Paul Garaghty hit an unbeaten 48 with Stuart Lemon hitting 32 and skipper Mike Bradley an unbeaten 20 in an unbroken 8th wicket stand of 45 with Garaghty. Lemon then removed Adam Wilson for 4 but Mohsin Ahmed (18) and the promoted Jimmy Hayhurst (16) took the score to 40 before Cameron Cuffy and Danny Kegg removed the pair with just 1 added to the total but professional Tama Canning made a welcome return to form with a match winning unbeaten 70. Canning hit eight fours and a six in a 135 ball innings to reclaim his place at the top of the league batting averages.
