Accrington
v Enfield
Enfield ran into form with a vengeance as they notched up their first win of the season at the expense of local rivals Accrington at Thorneyholme Road. The visitors piled up 252-3 with professional Alviro Petersen hitting a superb unbeaten 149 with ten sixes and 11 fours in a 142 ball stay. Skipper Mas Ahmed hit 57 in a 2nd wicket stand of 110 with Petersen as a transformed Enfield put aside their recent poor form. Accrington lost Mohsin Ahmed in the 5th over but professional Tama Canning kept the home side in the game with an innings of 80 with seven fours and three sixes. Canning was well supported by Adam Wilson (18) and Graeme Sneddon (17), but once he had gone at 147 in the 37th over, the middle order played some suicidal shots as the game slipped away. Petersen's medium pace picked up 3-54 with David Bracewell taking 4-56 as Accrington were dismissed for 208. Earlier in the game Mas Ahmed faced his son Mohsin for the first time in a competitive match.
