Champions
East Lancs moved up to 5th after beating Accrington by 34
runs at Alexandra Meadows. Skipper Paul Kelly hit four fours and two
sixes in an unbeaten 53 to rescue his side from 74-5. Mark Lomas also
hit 42 in the home sides 175-7 after Jimmy Hayhurst had taken 4-57 for
Accrington. The visitors were well placed at 59-1 but another middle
order collapse saw the game slip away. Hugh Doyle took 3-21 and professional
Quinton Fiend 2-44 as Accrington were restricted to 141-9. Mohsin Ahmed
top scored with 34 and Tama Canning hit 33 with a last wicket stand
of 29 between Richard Burrows (29 not out) and Damian Clarke (2 not
out) gaining two batting points for Accrington who finished on 141-9.
