beat Accrington (7pts) by 7 runs |
Burnley
continued their revival with a 7 run win at Accrington. The visitors
recovered from 115-8 to make 173 all out with professional Kerry Jeremy
hitting 37 and Graham Lalor 20 down the order. Graeme Sneddon took 3-36
for the home side. After losing professional Tama Canning to Jeremy
for 8, Mohsin Ahmed and Zahir Afzal put on 69 for the 4th wicket. Lalor
dismissed Afzal for 38 but Ahmed battled on to pass his half century.
Wickets continued to fall but Accrington went into the last over needing
9 to win with 2 wickets to fall and Ahmed unbeaten on 62 on strike.
The opener was dismissed by Michael Kelly off the second ball to bring
last man Andrew Greenwood to the crease. After bowling the youngster
a wide, Kelly didn't concede any more runs to see Burnley to a fourth
win of the season.
