Todmorden's
Indian professional Gyan Pandey had a tremendous all round performance
in his team's win at Accrington. The left arm spinner took all
nine Accrington wickets to fall at a cost of 74 runs in an unbroken
25 over spell as the home side made 153-9. Fellow left armer Ibra Ali
had identical entries in the overs, maidens (4) and runs column, but
he finished without a wicket. Four of Pandey's victims were clean bowled,
one was stumped and four were caught, including one by Pandey himself
off his own bowling. Pandey then hit an unbeaten 80 with eight fours
and two sixes, one of which took Todmorden past their rain reduced target.
The Indian has now hit 287 in his last three innings without being dismissed
for an average of 124.0. Pandey's bowling figures are the best of the
season, erasing Ryan Harris' 8-59 from the record books. Brian Heywood,
who finished unbeaten on 31 now has an average of 93.3. For Accrington,
Graeme Sneddon hit 29 with John Pilling (27) and Paul Barratt (23) contributing
in the middle order. Barratt later pulled a hamstring.
