Lancs stay on top of the table after thrashing Accrington
by 191 runs at Alexandra Meadows. Home
professional Johann Louw became only the third East Lancs professional
to pass 1,000 runs for the season with an innings of 103 which included
five fours and six sixes. Louw put on 86 for the 3rd wicket with Paul
Turner (44) after the leaders had been in trouble at 9-2. Phil Mercer
hit 27 as East Lancs closed on 234-9. Zahir Afzal took 3-37 for the
visitors who were then shot out for just 43 with Nas Iqbal taking 6-30
and Louw 4-11 in 17.3 overs of carnage. Only Mohsin Ahmed, who hit 13
to pass 500 runs for the second successive season, made double figures
of the batsmen with 13 extras also making a major contribution.
