Bacup beat Accrington on the last ball of the match in a thrilling Worsley Cup encounter at Lanehead. Bacup needed four runs to win off the last ball of the match with David Ormerod on strike. Ormerod coolly struck the winning boundary to put his side into the semi final draw. Accrington had set Bacup a target of 194 for victory with professional And Seymore hitting 10 boundaries in his 74. The South African shared a 1st wicket stand of 50 with Abbas Sadiq (9) and 54 with Adam Barnes (30) for the 2nd wicket. Graeme Sneddon added 25 as Accrington closed on 193-8. Ormerod took 3-29 and Neal Wilkinson 2-34. Dominic Ayres (59) and Shaun Young (45) put on 69 for the 2nd wicket for Bacup with Tim Farragher adding 28 and Paul Gallagher 16 but it was left to the tail enders to put the finishing touches to a dramatic ending. Bacup skipper Neal Wilkinson had to be helped off with an eye injury after being hit in the penultimate over. Jimmy Hayhurst took 3-27 and Seymore 2-28 for the visitors.
