Accrington
v Ramsbottom
Ramsbottom professional Michael Clarke smashed his fourth century of the season in Ramsbottom's win against Accrington at Thorneyholme Road. The Australian began quietly, scoring just 7 out of a 1st wicket stand of 42 with Nick Riley (34) but opened up to score 126 including ten fours and three sixes before falling to a fine tumbling catch at long on by Tariq Hussain off Assim Hussain. Lee Daggett weighed in with 32 and David Bell hit an unbeaten 23 as the visitors made 262-8. Steve Juliff took 4-84 and Tariq 2-42 for Accrington. In reply, the home side soon lost Andre Seymore for 4. Rain interrupted play, but Accrington never looked like getting anywhere near their target, Tariq again batted well for 24 and Nasser Hussain made 23 but it was Paul Clifford who made the biggest impression with a maiden league half century for Accrington, hitting an unbeaten 53, including 8 fours and 2 sixes as the home side finished on 153-9. Steve Juliff hit an unbeaten 17 after retiring hurt with cramp. Nick Riley took 3-25 and Simon Read 3-35 for Ramsbottom who are now fourth in the table.
