Accrington
ended the day with less points than they began with after having a point
deducted for a slow over rate in their heavy 87 run defeat by Colne
at Thorneyholme Road. Visiting professional Charl Langeveldt set a high
mark with 8-52 to dismiss the home side for 134 after Colne had made
211-9. Langeveldt made 45, Jeff Ellis 36, Steve Woods 33 and Andy Roberts
30 with James Hayhurst (2-28), Mabs Hussain (2-40) and substitute professional
Naeem Ashraf (2-40) picking up a couple of wickets each in the Colne
innings. None of the home batsmen were able to come to terms with Langeveldt,
Mohsin Ahmed making a painstaking 30, Ashraf 25 and Mabs Hussain 21
for Accrington.
