8th wicket stand of 73 between David Connolly (46) and Chris Wright
(33 not out) took Burnley to 163/8 against Accrington
after an opening burst of three wickets by Tama Canning and two by Zahir
Afzal had reduced the home side to 46/5. opener Ian Whitehead stood
firm with 34 and James Anderson hit 22 before becoming James Hayhurst's
first league wicket. Canning hit 48, but only Steve Birtwistle (13)
and Richard Burrows (12) made double figures of the other Accrington
batsmen as England Under 19 paceman James Anderson sliced through the
visiting batsmen, taking 6-35 to send Accrington back to the bottom
of the table.
