Sunday 27th August 2000

Tama Canning took Accrington to their third win in the four matches since he arrived to replace Nathan Astle, falling two runs short of a century in the match against Enfield at Dill Hall Lane. Canning put on 85 with Mohsin Ahmed (25) for the third wicket in Accrington's 175 - 9. David Saker (3 - 92) and Liam Jackson (4 - 78) bowled unchanged in the visitors 40 over innings. After a spot of tea, Jackson was soon back in action, opening the innings for Enfield who were soon in trouble at 3 - 2. Canning and Steve Juliff ripped out Andy Barker and Sam Reidy but Jackson stood firm racing to his 50 out of 66. The young all rounder was eventually seventh out after scoring 75 out of 107, caught by Canning off Tariq Hussain. Matloob Khan (19) was the only other batsman to make double figures as Enfield held on at 123 - 9. Canning took 4 - 58 and Steve Juliff 3 - 41 in Accrington's eleventh win of the season. Scorecard
