Left arm spinner Ibrar Ali took a career best 8-23 to bowl Todmorden to a 27 run win over Accrington at Centre Vale after his team had been bowled out for 113. In humid conditions Accrington professional Colin Miller took 6-38 to help bowl Todmorden out in the 41st over. Skipper Mark Aspin (2-21 from 14 overs), had opener Andy Barker (4) caught at slip by Billy Rawstron at 7. Opener Mohammed Saleem and Brian Heywood took the score to 41 in the 18th over when Saleem (23) was caught at slip by Rawstron off Miller. John Barker (0) was caught behind by Russell Edmonds next ball and two balls later skipper Stuart Priestley (0) was caught at second slip by Tofeeq Khan to put Accrington on top. Heywood (18) was next to go, caught behind by Edmonds off Miller at 58. Professional Aaron Gale made 22 before being run out at 82. Martin Whittle had Duncan Parker (13) caught by Damian Clarke at 100. Aspin trapped Ali (1) in front at 103 with Miller snapping up Mark Clayton (15) one run later and James Morgan (4) to end the innings at 113. Wicketkeeper Bobby Brownbridge was unbeaten on 5. Ten runs came off the opening 2 overs but Gale removed Rawstron (10), caught behind at 16 to make the breakthrough for the home side in the seventh over. Khan (4) was stumped by Brownbridge off Ali at 28 but Aspin and Edmonds took the score to 46 at the halfway point. Ali broke the stand at 64 when Aspin holed out to Andy Barker for 12. Two runs later Edmonds 74 ball innings ended when he was bowled by Ali for 28. Ali removed Whittle (0) at 70 and Brian Holmes (0) fell to the returning Gale at 74. One run later Ali trapped Mark Stevenson (0) in front and when Brownbridge stumped Stefan Heins (0) off Ali at 77, four Accrington batsmen in a row had departed without scoring. Miller (16) had done his best to hold the innings together but he was next to go caught behind to give Brownbridge his fourth victim and Ali his seventh. Two balls later Ali polished off the tail, having Clarke (0) caught by Clayton without addition at 86 leaving Tariq Hussain unbeaten on 2. Next to bottom club Accrington's defeat was the club's fourth in a row and thirteenth of the season.
