Accrington went down to fifth successive defeat, losing to fellow strugglers Rawtenstall by 6 wickets at Thorneyholme Road. Professional Colin Miller (44), Brian Holmes (40 not out), Paul Barratt (23), Russell Edmonds (22), Tofeeq Khan (18) and skipper Mark Aspin (17) all chipped in to Accrington's 173-5. After Miller (2-50) had picked up openers Richard Wood (9) and Jamie Carter (5) and Wayne Roberts had snapped up skipper Steve Tattersall (4) to have Rawtenstall struggling on 34-3, professional Ross Veenstra hit a match winning unbeaten 96 to take the visitors to victory. Veenstra hit a dozen fours and four sixes, adding 109 with Glenn Barlow (38) and an unbroken 34 with Tim Skelton to take Rawtenstall to a fourth win of the season in the 38th over.
