Paul Barratt's maiden Lancashire League century couldn't prevent Accrington from going down to a 4 wicket defeat at Rawtenstall. The opener batted through the innings, hitting thirteen fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 103 as Accrington made 201-8. Barratt lost Russell Edmonds (1) at 2, skipper Mark Aspin (32) at 53, professional Colin Miller (0) at 55, Martin Whittle (12) and Tofeeq Khan (0) at 85, Mark Stevenson (20) at 139, Stefan Heins (1) at 162 and Alistair Cunliffe at 171. Damian Clarke hit an unbeaten 16 in adding an unbroken 30 for the 9th wicket with Barratt. Rawtenstall professional Ross Veenstra took 6-42. Aspin (3-73) sent back Jamie Carter (3) at 17 with Miller (3-84) taking a return catch to remove the other opener Richard Wood (15) at 25. Batting with a runner, skipper Steve Tattersall steadied the innings, hitting an unbeaten 88, including eleven fours and a six. Miller dismissed his opposite number Veenstra (17) at 50 but Glenn Barlow hit 57, including nine fours and a six, adding 120 with his captain to put the home side firmly on top. Aspin removed Barlow at 170 and Brian Terry (0) one run later with Miller trapping Pat Rush (6) in front at 189. Richard Glover (5 not out) joined Tattersall to see Rawtenstall to victory with 2 overs to spare. The win took Rawtenstall above Accrington in the table to twelfth place.
