Accrington v Ramsbottom
An early finish at Thorneyholme Road saw bottom club Accrington suffer a club record 22nd defeat of the season, losing by 8 wickets to Holland Cup winners Ramsbottom. Professional Chris Harris took a league best 7-22 to help bowl Accrington out for 54 inside 38 overs. Skipper Jack Simpson also picked up 4 victims to create a new league record for most victims in a season with 56. Harris removed Billy Rawstron (8) at 17, Paul Barratt (2) and professional Colin Miller (0) at 26. Michael Haslam had Russell Edmonds (3) caught behind by Simpson at 37 to give his skipper the new record with his third victim of the afternoon. Garfield Moreton then picked up Tofeeq Khan (4) at 43. Harris snapped up opener Mark Stevenson, who had batted for almost 2 hours for 20, at the same score. Skipper Brian Holmes (1) fell to Harris at 45. Harris cleaned up Azad Akram (4) at 49 and Moreton clean bowled Damian Clarke at 52. The final wicket to fall was Mark Demaine (3) who was trapped in front by Harris at 54, leaving Len Dewhurst unbeaten on 0. It took Ramsbottom just 7.4 overs to secure the points for the loss of Ian Bell (0) and Simpson (20) who was bowled by Miller who was now bowling left arm medium pace over the wicket with just 5 runs needed to win. Harris led Ramsbottom home with an unbeaten 35, to finish the season with 1231 runs and 112 wickets.
