Accrington went down to a seventh successive defeat, losing by 132 runs at Acre Bottom to Ramsbottom who moved up to second place in the table with the victory. Accrington professional Colin Miller took 6-66 but his opposite number Chris Harris went one better with 7-39 to bowl the visitors out for 99. Ramsbottom lost opener Ian Bell (23) to Miller at 29 but skipper Jack Simpson (37) and Harris took the score to 102 before Simpson fell to Miller. Harris hit seven sixes and three fours in making 63 before also falling to Miller at 140. Miller also picked up Steve Dearden (31) at 179, Graham Ratcliffe (11) and Gary Dyson (1). Skipper Mark Aspin removed Brian Taylor (29) and Nick Riley hit an unbeaten 26 in Ramsbottom's 231-7. Justin Greenwood's one over cost 23 runs with Ramsbottom hitting eleven sixes in their innings. Harris trapped Russell Edmonds (5) in front at 9. Simpson stumped Aspin (14) off Riley at 29 but Martin Whittle and Miller took the score to 81. Harris broke the 54 run stand when he dismissed Whittle (25) to spark a major collapse that would see the last 8 wickets fall for just 18 runs. Spinner Garfield Moreton dismissed Miller (31) and Mark Demaine (1) three runs later in the same over. Harris took over and removed the last five batsmen Alistair Cunliffe (1), Stefan Heins (3), Greenwood (0) and Damian Clarke (5) and Azad Akram (0), who were both stumped by Simpson leaving number six Mark Stevenson unbeaten on 3 when the innings ended in the 41st over. Accrington stayed in bottom place.
