Accrington v Lowerhouse
Professional Colin Miller hit 89 and skipper Mark Aspin 53 but Accrington went down to a first home defeat of the season losing to Lowerhouse on run rate by 5 wickets. Miller hit hit five fours and four sixes with Aspin hitting five fours and on six in a 3rd wicket stand of 110 after the early loss of openers Mark Stevenson (2) and Russell Edmonds (0). Edmonds was one of five run out victims along with Paul Barratt (16), Tofeeq Khan (10), Wayne Roberts (1) and Aspin. Lowerhouse professional Shawn Flegler had Martin Whittle (5) caught behind by Andy Chippendale and Jez Hope (3-77) followed up the wicket of Miller by polishing off the innings by removing Scott Greaves (0) and Damian Clarke (1). Azad Akram hadn't faced a ball when the innings ended on 189 in the 46th over. A late finish saw Lowerhouse win the match after hitting 136-5 in 32 overs at 8.24pm, Flegler hitting six fours and four sixes in an unbeaten 82. Simon Payne also hit 26 with Nick Hope (4), Chris Bleazard (2) and skipper Gary Moorhouse (7) falling to Miller (3-51) and Aspin sending back opener Stan Heaton (11). The win took Lowerhouse to the top of the table after Haslingden's match at Todmorden ended in a no result.
