Accrington went down to a fifth straight away defeat in all competitions, losing by 8 wickets at Haslingden. Home professional Paul Reiffel took 6-39 on his club debut to help bowl Accrington out for 123 and then opener Graham Knowles hit an unbeaten 65 to see his side to victory in the 24th over. Reiffel picked up the early wickets of opener Mark Stevenson and skipper Mark Aspin who both failed to score. Russell Edmonds (10) and professional Colin Miller (31) added 38 before Edmonds fell to Reiffel. The Haslingden professional also picked up Paul Barratt (4), Tofeeq Khan (a career best 32) and last man Azad Akram (6). Barry Knowles removed Miller, Martin Whittle (9) and Justin Greenwood (1) with Liam Bones chipping in with the wicket of Wayne Roberts (3) leaving Damian Clarke unbeaten on 7. Aspin sent back Mike Ingham (4) at 18 but former Accrington junior Stuart Taylor joined Graham Knowles to add 75 before falling to Greenwood for 35. Reiffel (15 not out) and Graham Knowles then saw Haslingden home with an unbroken 3rd wicket stand of 31. The win took Haslingden back to the top of the table. Accrington lie in twelfth place.
