Accrington went down to a tenth successive defeat, losing by 6 wickets against East Lancs at Thorneyholme Road. Mark Demaine hit a career best 35 in Accrington's 147-9 but East Lancs professional Alan Dawson hit an unbeaten 45 to take the visitors to victory in the 41st over. Dawson had earlier taken 6-42 picking up the wickets of opener Martin Whittle (5), sub professional Richard Staple (29), Paul Barratt (11), Demaine, Wayne Roberts (2) and Scott Greaves (1) after Nas Iqbal had sent back opener Billy Rawstron (2) at 4. Paul Kelly dismissed skipper Brian Holmes for 7 and Russell Edmonds was run out for 25. East Lancs lost Kelly Mall to staple before a run had been scored. Phil Bolton and skipper Mark Lomas added 72 before Bolton fell to Len Dewhurst for 29. Whittle (2-41) removed Lomas (43) at 74 and Andy Clague (0) at 80 but Phil Mooney (23 not out) joined his professional to close out the win with an unbroken 5th wicket stand of 71.
