Accrington's first home match of the season was a successful one producing a 6 wicket win over Colne. Chasing over 200 for the second match running, skipper Mark Aspin and Russell Edmonds added 141 for the 2nd wicket to set up the victory with Edmonds making 65, his first Lancashire League half century. After losing Mark Stevenson (7) to Gary Laycock, Edmonds and Aspin survived missed catches but gradually got on top of the bowlers to put together a match winning stand which was broken when Colne professional Scott Williams dismissed both men in the same over at 156 and 157. Aspin hit six fours and two sixes in his 66 with Edmonds hitting seven fours in his career best 65. Professional Colin Miller made a hard hit unbeaten 41 to lead Accrington home in the 45th over, losing Brian Holmes (5) to Williams at 174, adding an unbroken 39 with Paul Barratt who finished unbeaten on 9. Aspin had earlier taken 3-54 in Colne's 209-8. Williams top scored with 43, Darryl Halstead made 42, adding 75 for the 1st wicket with Andy Leah (35), Gary Hunt also hit 29, Paul Wilson 18 and Justin Nutter and unbeaten 11 for Colne.
