A low scoring game at West End saw Church beat local rivals Accrington by 3 wickets. After opener Tofeeq Khan (8) was run out at 16, Russell Edmonds (16) and skipper Mark Aspin (37) added 47 for the 2nd wicket. Ken Fergusson (3-23) removed both players but it was Nick Westwell who did the real damage, taking 6-14 from 10.2 overs as Accrington collapsed from 63-1 to 81 all out. Westwell removed professional Colin Miller (1), Stefan Heins (1), Arif Hussain (2), Wayne Roberts (0), Alistair Cunliffe (2) and last man Azad Akram (4) with Fergusson cleaning up Scott Greaves (1). Justin Greenwood was unbeaten on 1 when the innings ended in the 38th over. Miller (4-45) removed skipper Phil Sykes (7), sub professional Harvinder Sodhi (24), Peter Gilrane (7) and Alan Rawcliffe (2). Roberts cleaned up Neil Perry (16) and Aspin trapped Alec Holt (11) in front as Church slipped from 61-2 to 78-7 with Andy Aspin (6) being run out. David Schofield (7 not out) and Fergusson (0 not out) saw Church over the line in the 28th over. Accrington lost on the road for the third time in as many games.
