Accrington lost a high scoring match to Ramsbottom by 8 runs at Thorneyholme Road. Ramsbottom professional Keith Arthurton top scored with 79, including three fours in his team's 195-6. Skipper Jack Simpson also made 32, Steve Dearden 22, Brian Taylor 13 and Ian Bell and Steve Hall 12 apiece. Accrington skipper Mark Aspin took 3-56 and Justin Greenwood picked up 2-36. Arthurton then took 3-52 and Dearden picked up 2-26 to restrict Accrington to 187-7. Aspin top scored with 57, including nine fours, Nick Marsh hit 34, Paul Barratt 28, Mick Wilson a career best unbeaten 20, Martin Whittle 15 and Mark Stevenson 10.
