Accrington's poor start to the season continued with a third successive defeat this time at Lowerhouse by 3 wickets. Accrington professional Sherwin Campbell hit his maiden half century for the club, top scoring with 64, including eight fours in his sides 177-7. After losing skipper Nick Marsh (0), Billy Rawstron (11) and Paul Barratt (11) to Ryan Hesketh (3-30), Campbell and Mark Aspin put on 92 for the 4th wicket before the amateur fell to Paul Stansfield (3-27) for 54, including four fours and three sixes at 142. Campbell was bowled by Matt Hope at 155 with Stansfield also sending back Mark Demaine (7) and Mark Greenhalgh (5). Opener Nick Hope and Chris Bleazard both fell to Greenhalgh without scoring with Aspin having professional Craig Light caught by Neil Holmes for 21 at 23. A 4th wicket stand of 90 between Gary Moorhouse (40) and Phil Astin (42) put Lowerhouse back on top. When Moorhouse fell to Campbell and Astin fell to Greenhalgh (3-70), Jez Hope took charge with an unbeaten 41. John Proctor (12) fell to Aspin and Matt Hope was run out for 3 but wicketkeeper Andy Chippendale (7 not out) helped Jez take the home side to victory with 5 balls to spare.
