Accrington v Lowerhouse
A fine all round performance from sub professional Ian Austin helped Accrington to a 7 wicket win over Lowerhouse at Thorneyholme Road. Put in to bat, the visitors made 157-8 with professional Craig Light top scoring with 65. The South African added 94 for the 2nd wicket with Nick Hope (43), but after Austin removed the amateur and skipper Mark Aspin accounted for the professional, only Chris Bleazard (25) could make an impression against some tight bowling The skipper finished with 4-57 and the professional 3-43 from a straight 23 over stint. Martin Whittle and Neil Holmes made up a four pronged attack for the home side. Austin didn't get much time to put his feet up, being called into action in the 4th over after Ryan Hesketh had dismissed opener Arif Hussain. Mark Stevenson added 58 with Austin, who went on to hit eleven fours and three sixes before being stumped by Nick Hope off James Capstick for a superb 91, made from just 78 balls. Paul Barratt (36 not out) and Aspin then saw Accrington to victory with over a dozen overs and 7 wickets in hand.
