Accrington suffered a fourth successive defeat, losing to Colne by 15 runs in a rain affected match at Thorneyholme Road. Mark Greenhalgh took 4-61 with Gary Hunt (48), professional Chris Killen (32), skipper Andy Leah (27) and John Lambert (24) all chipping in to Colne's 179-9. Killen (4-52) removed skipper Nick Marsh (5), Billy Rawstron (0), Paul Barratt (1) and Martin Whittle (12) with Accrington professional Sherwin Campbell top scoring with 35. Rain wiped 10 overs off Accrington's innings but 141 still proved a bridge too far. Brian Holmes hit an unbeaten 30 and Russell Edmonds hit an unbeaten 14 to take Accrington from 87-7 to 125-7 at the close. The match was to be Marsh's last match as skipper with the opener resigning at the end of the match.
