Accrington went down to a 71 run defeat in a rain reduced 33 overs a-side game on the final day of the season at Burnley. Half centuries by openers Peter Brown and Pankaj Tripathi set Burnley on the way to a formidable 232-3. Tripathi hit seven fours and two sixes in making 57 before falling to Len Dewhurst at 89. Sub professional Paul Hutchison made 49 before being run out at 162. Mark Stevenson picked up his first and only Lancashire League wicket when he had Andy McLeod caught by skipper Mark Aspin for 26 at 228. Brown finished unbeaten on 89, including a dozen fours. Aspin hit an unbeaten 59, including ten fours and a six, Martin Whittle hit 38, Nick Marsh 25 and Mark Demaine 13 in Accrington's 161-6. Accrington finished bottom of the table with four wins, 21 defeats, one no result with 2 bonus points. The theme song for the End Of Season Party was D:Ream's 'Things can only get better.'
