An outstanding all round performance from professional Roger Harper inspired Bacup to a 94 run win over bottom club Accrington at Lanehead. Harper's league best unbeaten 123 from 122 balls included fourteen fours and a six. After opener Peter Killelea (4) was caught by sub professional Shaun Young at 16, Harper joined Mark Taylor to add 139 for the 2nd wicket. Taylor hit eight fours in making 68. Skipper Peter Thompson then put on 101 for the 3rd wicket with his professional before falling to Young for 48. Bacup closed on 263-3. Young made 56, including nine fours, but Harper took 5-42 to bowl Accrington out for 169. Nick Marsh hit 28, Martin Whittle 25 and skipper Mark Aspin and Mark Stevenson 11 apiece in Accrington's reply.
