The first match to finish was at Rawtenstall where the home side hammered Accrington by 9 wickets. Professional Michael Bevan took 4-33 and Peter Seal 4-44 to dismiss Accrington for 111. Accrington professional Neil Johnson top scored with 33 with only Mark Demaine (24) and Mark Greenhalgh (17 not out) making double figures down the order. Johnson dismissed John Kershaw for 16, but Bevan smashed seven fours and three sixes off the visiting attack in making an unbeaten 66 with opener Peter Wood keeping him company with an unbeaten 17.
