A fine all round performance by professional Dipak Patel helped Accrington to a 5 wicket win at Todmorden. Patel took 4-40 and then hit 61, his highest score of the season. Todmorden openers Gareth Duffield (40) and Steve Bailey (24) had put on 39 when Patel had Bailey caught by Morgan Whipp. Home professional Clint Yorke added 49 with Duffield before being bowled by Martin Whittle for 36. Damian Clarke removed Duffield at 123 and Patel sent back Mark Clayton (13) at 139. Wicketkeeper David Whitehead (1) also fell to Patel at 144 and two runs later skipper Brian Heywood was caught by Whipp off Mark Greenhalgh (3-37) for 15. After the addition of one run Patel had Ibrar Ali stumped by Mick Wilson for 1. Greenhalgh cleaned up Simon Barker (6) and Stuart Parker (0) at 157 and Jack Highley was run out without scoring with 5 balls of the innings remaining leaving Mick Hartley unbeaten on 4. Accrington made a poor start in reply losing opener Neil Barnes to Yorke before a run had been scored. Mark Stevenson had made 1 when he also fell to Yorke at 25. Patel and Whipp then added 61 before Patel was bowled by Ali for 61, including eight fours and a six. Whipp (25) fell to Hartley at 116 and Paul Barratt was caught by Heywood off Yorke for 49 with the scores level. Whittle hit the winning run with Mark Demaine finishing unbeaten on 14 when the game was won in the 39th over. Accrington moved up to joint 8th place with Lowerhouse with 13 points from seven games.
