Accrington 1st XI 1992

Accrington's match at Rawtenstall finished as a No result after rain showers interrupted play on a frequent basis. The only clubs to get result were the top two Ramsbottom and Haslingden. Put in to bat Accrington openers Bob Collins (42) and skipper Nick Marsh (48) put on 84 before Rawtenstall skipper Bob Holmes (3-21) had Collins stumped by Peter Barnes. Marsh was caught by Glenn Barlow off Holmes at 103. Neil Barnes was run out for 2 at 108 and professional Dipak Patel also fell to Holmes for 33 at 136. Paul Barratt was on 9 and Martin Whittle was on 1 when the innings was closed on 146-4 after 31 overs. After a 50 minute delay Rawtenstall's reply began badly with the league's top amateur batsman Peter Wood falling to Steve Juliff's fourth ball without scoring. Juliff also picked up John Kershaw (12) at 16 and Patel had Barlow caught by Barnes for 13 at 37. Professional Colin Miller was unbeaten on 11 and Brian Terry was still there on 2 when rain prevented any further play after 12.3 overs with the home side on 42-3. Accrington stay in 11th place with 32 points from 21 games. Scorecard
