Accrington were beaten by Lowerhouse on run rate in a rain affected game in the penultimate match of the season at Thorneyholme Road. Sub professional David Callaghan took 5-54 in the visitors 167-9. Callaghan also top scored with 41 in Accrington's 80-6. When Callaghan dismissed openers Gary Moorhouse and Phil Astin both without scoring and Mark Greenhalgh had professional Cameron Williamson caught behind by Mick Wilson, Lowerhouse were deep in trouble on 13-3. Chris Bleazard (38) and Nick Hope (32) fought back with a 4th wicket stand of 53. Callaghan then had Bleazard taken by Martin Whittle and Matt Hope (0) caught by Neil Barnes four runs later. Nick Hope was caught by skipper Nick Marsh at 97. John Procter and Chris Scott put on 34 before the former Lancashire wicketkeeper was stumped by Wilson off Damian Clarke. Skipper Jez Hope (15 not out) and Procter added 28 when Procter was bowled by Callaghan 3 runs short of his half century. Greenhalgh cleaned up Ryan Hesketh (4) and then managed to keep James Capstick (0 not out) quiet for the rest of the final over. Capstick took 3-14 and Williamson 2-23 to have Accrington in trouble at 80-6 when rain stopped play after 31 overs with Accrington needing to be on 113 to claim victory. Skipper Nick Marsh hit 22 with Paul Schofield yet to get off the mark in his final Lancashire League game. Accrington drop down two places to 11th with 37 points from 25 games. Scorecard
