Accrington professional Dipak Patel hit a match winning 77 to help his team to a 5 wicket win over Colne at Thorneyholme Road. Colne openers Darryl Halstead and Andy Roberts put on 57 before Halstead was run out for 29. Sub professional Allison Johnson added 44 with Roberts before being trapped in front by Damian Clarke for 16. Patel ended Roberts innings for 64, including five fours and two sixes, with the score on 120. Patel (3-32) also picked up Gary Hunt (4), Andy Leah (2) and Mark Greenhalgh clean bowled wicketkeeper Paul Wilson (6) at 155. Skipper Trevor Kegg hit three sixes in hitting an unbeaten 36 adding an unbroken 23 for the 7th wicket with Nigel Rimmer (2 not out) in Colne's 178-6. After losing skipper Nick Marsh (7) at 17, Bob Collins and Patel put on 92 before the amateur fell to Hunt for 46. Paul Barratt (17) added 39 for the 3rd wicket with Patel before being trapped in front by Johnson. Patel's fine innings ended at 164 when he was caught by Leah off Kegg for 77, including seven fours from 114 balls. Martin Whittle (11 not out) steered Accrington home in the final over with Morgan Whipp (2 not out), losing Neil Barnes (1) at 169. Accrington move up to 9th place with 37 points from 23 games after winning for the first time in eight games. Scorecard
