Todmorden went to the top of the table for the first time this season after a 5 wicket win over Accrington at Centre Vale on Sunday July 22nd. Nick Marsh top scored with 47 and Mark Greenhalgh made 30 low in the order after professional Shane Warne had been first to go for 1. Neil Barnes (20), Paul Barratt (16) and Billy Rawstron (11) all added runs with Marsh in Accrington's 146 all out. Ibra Ali was the home sides best bowler with 3-48. Warne opened the bowling for the first time, dismissing free scoring Clint Yorke for his first duck of the season. Mark Greenhalgh removed Stuart Priestley and Warne struck again trapping home skipper Brian Heywood also without scoring to have Todmorden in trouble at 22-3. Paul Seedle then get rid of Steve Bailey for 28, but wicketkeeper David Whitehead played a match winning innings of 70 not out with support from Andy Barker (20) and Mick Hartley (14 not out) to make it a 10 point weekend for the new league leaders.
