Rishton moved up to third place after beating Accrington by 46 runs at Blackburn Road. Accrington professional Shane Warne took 6-63, his best league figures to date, with his opposite number Peter Sleep hitting 60 and David Wilson 22 in Rishton's 152-9. Robbie Walsh (3-44) then took 3 early wickets to reduce Accrington to 30-4. A 5th wicket stand of 34 between Paul Barratt (22) and Martin Whittle (21) held Rishton up but Sleep removed both batsmen in picking up a match winning 6-24 to send Accrington to the bottom of the table.
