Peter Sleep won the race to be the first to 1,000 runs but Joe Scuderi joined his fellow countryman later in the day as both Rishton and Nelson recorded wins on Saturday August 17th.. Sleep scored exactly 100 not out in Rishton's 173-8 at Accrington. The Australian batted through the innings, reaching his century with his 10th boundary off the final ball of the innings.Only Ian Procter (14) and Gareth Wells (13) made double figures of the other batsmen as Accrington professional Shane Warne picked up 4-58 from 17 overs after Paul Seedle (2-60) had made an early breakthrough to send back Martin Collinson (0). Warne and Nick Marsh replied promisingly with an opening stand of 34 before the amateur was dismissed by Robbie Walsh for 12. Warne was next to go, holing out to Gareth Wells at mid off for 22. Paul Barratt was next to go, giving Graham Bardsley his second wicket without troubling the scorers.
