Shane Warne notched his best figures in the league, but his 6-49 was not enough to secure victory for his side Accrington at Rawtenstall. Half centuries by Peter Wood (69) and professional Colin Miller (62), who both passed 500 runs for the season during the afternoon, helped the home side total 194-9 with Accrington skipper Billy Rawstron picking up three stumpings and a catch off the Australian leg spinner. Warne then scored 32 out of a 52 run opening stand with Nick Marsh (28) before falling to Miller. Keith Roscoe picked up the other 6 wickets to fall at a cost of 71 runs to restrict Accrington to 150-7. Paul Barratt top scored with 46 before becoming Roscoe's last victim. Scorecard
