Accrington lost for the fourth successive match, this time by 7 runs at home to Rawtenstall, but professional Shane Warne had his best match to date picking up 4-38 from 15 overs and hitting 34 with the bat. Glen Barlow top scored with 49 before falling to Warne, with Martin Whittle also taking 3-32 in Rawtenstall's innings of 179-9. Brett Storey dismissed skipper Andy Barker (0) and Graham Beech (0) cheaply but Warne and Nick Marsh added 53 for the 3rd wicket when the Australian was stumped by Peter Barnes off Keith Roscoe. Marsh went on to make 66 before being caught and bowled by Bob Holmes. Professional Colin Miller (3-66) then removed the lower middle order with only Paul Seedle (32) offering any resistance as wickets tumbled. With 18 needed off the final 2 overs, Accrington could manage only 10 to end on 172-9. Scorecard
