Professional Robert Haynes took 5-43 and followed up with an unbeaten half century to help Accrington beat Rishton by 6 wickets at Thorneyholme Road to secure a third straight victory. Steve Juliff (2-28) struck the first blow by removing Rishton skipper David Wells (8) at 6. Worse was to come for the visitors when Juliff had free scoring professional Peter Sleep caught behind by Billy Rawstron without scoring at the same score. Haynes got in the picture by removing opener Craig Smith (30) at 55, John Ainscough (14), Russell Whalley (5), Jimmy Bibby (14) and Robbie Walsh (0). Ian Birtwistle (2-38) chipped in with the wickets of Phil Sykes (33) and Graham Bardsley (6) as Rishton closed on 129-9. Walsh sent back skipper Andy Barker (11) and Neil Barnes (0) at 27 and Rawstron (10) at 40. Opener Nick Marsh (36) and Haynes then put on 80 for the 4th wicket before Marsh fell to Bardsley. Haynes finished unbeaten on 61 from 52 balls with seven fours and two sixes. Accrington remained in fourth place. Scorecard
