Accrington completed the double over Enfield by beating their local rivals by 9 wickets at Thorneyholme Road. Veteran Ian Birtwistle turned in his best performance of the season, taking 4-9 in 6 overs as Enfield were bowled out in the 37th over. Enfield professional Chris Killen was run out for 7 with the total on 12, running straight back to the pavilion following a mix up with his partner. Six runs later Steve Juliff had the other opener Dean Rogers caught by Paul Barratt at slip for 8. Home professional Robert Haynes (3-24) dismissed Keith Windle for 2 with the second ball of his spell at 27. Three runs later Mark Greenhalgh trapped Damian Hartley in front without scoring. Maz Iqbal became Haynes second victim at 44 when he was caught by Mark Demaine at mid off for 6. Birtwistle took the next four wickets, clean bowling Mushtaq Ahmed at 66 for 24. Paul Hand (0) followed at 72 and Mick Devenney (4) and Richard Shovelton (0) both went at 78. Haynes polished the innings off by having Enfield skipper John Cahill caught by Nick Marsh at mid on without scoring at 79 leaving Andy McMinn unbeaten on 18. Only two fours were hit during the innings. Accrington knocked off the runs in the 20th over for the loss of Marsh (25) to Shovelton at 62. Skipper Andy Barker made an unbeaten 37 and Haynes was unbeaten on 4 when the points were secured. Enfield's defeat was their 13th in a row at the halfway point in the season. Scorecard
