Half centuries by opener Andy Riley, who made exactly 50 from 108 balls with four fours and a six, and Alleyne who took 85 balls to hit two fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 52, took the visitors to 110 with a 5th wicket stand of 74. Ian Birtwistle broke the stand by clean bowling the opener and the veteran then had Trevor Kegg caught by Nick Marsh for 2 before holding a return catch off Peter Little (1). Haynes removed wicketkeeper Paul Wilson (5) and Kevin Cullen (0) with last man Glyn Sedman run out as the last 5 wickets fell for 14 runs. Alleyne soon made his mark with the ball by sending back Marsh (4), wicketkeeper Billy Rawstron (4) and Haynes (0) with Kegg snapping up Barratt (0), Trevor Hatch (7) and Mark Greenhalgh (1). Skipper Andy Barker (16), who was the only player to make double figures, fell to Alleyne at 31-5.
