League leaders Accrington completed the double over defending champions and second placed rivals Haslingden with a 6 wicket win at Thorneyholme Road to secure a fifth successive league victory. Neil Holmes got Accrington off to a great start with the wicket of opener Bryan Knowles who was dismissed without scoring with the score on 10. Holmes (2-49) struck again at 35 when he had the other opener Bob Collins caught behind by wicketkeeper Billy Rawstron for 25. Professional Simon O'Donnell was next to go, well caught at long on by Mark Demaine off his opposite number Robert Haynes (3-66) for 23. Mike Ingham was run out for 18 at 91 with Stuart Taylor falling to Haynes at 109 for 27, caught by Nick Marsh at cover. The same combination accounted for Alan Massicks (19) at 145 leaving John Entwistle (25 not out) and Mick Tracey (12 not out) to take Haslingden to 174-6 with an unbroken 7th wicket stand of 29. A short shower knocked one over off the Haslingden innings. Accrington openers Marsh and Andy Barker put on 27 when Marsh was caught at cover by Knowles off Alan Barnes for 17. Barker was trapped in front by O'Donnell for 8 without addition. Haynes was run out for 15 after adding 30 with Rawstron. Paul Barratt was next to go caught at mid off by the diving Tracey off O'Donnell for 14 with the score on 90. Trevor Hatch joined Rawstron to lead Accrington home with a fine unbroken 5th wicket stand of 86. Rawstron hit an unbeaten 68 from 86 balls with nine fours in his third successive half century and Hatch made an unbeaten 33 from 40 balls with three fours and two sixes. Scorecard
